The courts may hold the line, but they won't save us. Congress won't save us. The military won't save us. Law enforcement agencies won't save us. However, if yesterday's election results are any indication, the people might save us. I am put in mind of what Winston Churchill said in 1942, amid another fight against fascism, after the Allied victory at El Alamein. "This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." There is still a lot of fighting to do. But we can take heart. We can win this.
