The View From the Other Side of My Head

Yesterday was a happy day for me. I finished the first draft of my next book, a chronicle of my education thus far in shamanist trance. Although I hope that the book may be of some use to researchers and scholars, my intent for it centers on communicating with people who want to know what it may be like for a beginner to go exploring the dreamworld. Behind my intent is the conviction that the society I live in is soul-sick and self-mutilated at its core, severed from this knowledge and connection. In the closely related interests of living as well functioning individuals in a healthy society, and of survival as a species, we need to learn to use all our faculties, including that of perceiving the world through trance. I hope that the story of my initiation may encourage others to do likewise.
