Telling It Like It Is

This is wonderful. Today, at last, I heard, on mainstream national media, an extended interview in which a person with knowledge - a former official in the first Trump administration - said at length and in detail, in plain language, without euphemism or equivocation or dramatics or both-sidesism or sane-washing, what we know to be true. It was stirring, not only for the content of what was said, which is profoundly depressing, but for the unexpectedly uplifting effect of hearing truth spoken loudly and clearly. The truth shall make you free - oh yeah! It makes for a complicated but energizing mix of emotions, at least for me. Everybody should listen to this or read the transcript. For those with some historical perspective, it feels kind of like Edward R. Murrow's show about Joseph McCarthy must have felt. Now, it's Meghna Chakrabarti interviewing Ty Cobb on the NPR program On Point. This Ty Cobb is a lawyer, but like the historic baseball great Ty Cobb, he hits it out of the park. Here's a link to a recording of the broadcast and, if you prefer, a transcript: https://www.wbur.org/onpoint/2026/08/06/ty-cobb-donald-trump-white-house .
